A 79-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor’s cat in Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela City on Monday, March 9.

The Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) said the cat’s owner, identified only as “Boy,” 33, was drinking with his brother-in-law at their house when they heard the loud cries of the cat outside.

When they checked, they found the cat bleeding, with a knife still stuck in its hind leg.
The two followed a trail of blood and discovered that it led to the house of the suspect.

The cat’s owner immediately brought the injured animal to a veterinarian and reported the incident to Police Sub-Station 6.

Police later responded to the report and arrested the suspect, who allegedly admitted to stabbing the cat.

Authorities said the suspect told the owner that the cat often entered his property, which prompted him to attack the animal.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8485, or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, as amended by Republic Act 10631.
