Muntinlupa LGU to limit fuel allowance, create task force vs overpricing
The Muntinlupa City government will implement energy conservation measures and create a task force to guard against overpricing and hoarding of fuel products.
The Office of the President earlier issued a memorandum circular ordering all government agencies to implement energy conservation measures amid the fuel price hike in the country resulting from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced on March 10 that he signed a resolution by the Local Finance Committee for the implementation of conservation plans in the city government.
"Lilimitahan natin ang fuel allowance ng City Government vehicles at hihigpitan ang monitoring sa paggamit nito upang masigurong para lamang ito sa mga kinakailangang opisyal na gawain. May hiwalay na fuel allocation para sa essential at responder offices upang hindi maapektuhan ang mga serbisyong kailangan ng ating mga kababayan (We will limit the fuel allowance of City Government vehicles and tighten monitoring of their use to ensure that they are only for necessary official activities. There is a separate fuel allocation for essential and responder offices so that the services needed by our countrymen are not affected)," he said.
In addition, work at several city government offices will be compressed to four days from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Thursday while frontline and essential offices will remain under the five-day work schedule.
Under this, 38 city government offices will work four days a week while 24 offices will work five days a week.
The use of aircon units in city government offices will be limited from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and lights and equipment not being used will be turned off.
Under the resolution, “Overtime work shall as far as practicable be avoided” and “unnecessary and unconscionable expenses arising from meetings, trainings and seminars whether local or international shall be avoided and for this purpose, the Human Resource Development Committee (HRDC) is enjoined to strictly monitor compliance.”
It added, “Attendance to offsite meetings, workshops and seminars shall be limited, virtual meetings shall be the default mode for coordination, inter office meetings, seminars and workshops shall be conducted virtually via digital platform as applicable.”
