The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) summoned the operator and driver of a passenger jeepney in a car crash incident in Cebu that left at least 15 people injured.
LTFRB chairman Vigor D. Mendoza II said the issuance of a show cause order was aimed at shedding light on what really happened, especially if there was a lapse on the part of the passenger jeepney driver.
“We want to know every detail of the incident not only to determine accountability but also come up with road safety policies,” said Mendoza.
Based on the police report, the jeepney was unloading passengers when it was hit by a sedan. As a result, at least five passengers were injured while several bystanders also suffered injuries.
Mendoza said that aside from the transport operator, the driver was also asked to explain in writing why they should not be held liable over the incident.
Both were also directed to appear in hearing.
While the investigation is ongoing, Mendoza said he already ordered the regional director of Central Visayas to assist the victims in the payment of insurance over the incident.
He said the move is an immediate form of assistance, especially those whose injuries require medical attention.
