Developer launches free crowdsourced gas price tracker for Metro Manila

With fuel prices in the country going up amid escalating Middle East tensions, one Filipino developer has stepped up to help motorists navigate the crisis with a new, community-powered tool.

MetroFuelTracker.com is a free, browser-based web app that lets drivers across Metro Manila check and compare real-time gas prices at stations near them; no app download or sign-up required.

What sets it apart is its "bayanihan" approach: prices are updated by drivers themselves, not by a central team. To prevent abuse, the app uses GPS verification, meaning a user can only submit a price update if they are physically present at the station. This built-in anti-spam system keeps the data honest and hyperlocal.

The developer, who shared the project on a popular motoring Facebook page, was candid about his motivations. "I built this to help out TNVS riders and daily commuters, not to make a quick buck," shared by the VISOR page, though they did not specify the name of the user.

For TNVS drivers and budget-conscious commuters trying to stretch every peso, a tool that tells you which nearby station has the cheapest pump price — updated by fellow motorists in real time — might be exactly the kind of practical, grassroots solution the moment calls for.
