Taguig LGU to implement energy conservation measures, flex work schedule
The Taguig City government announced it will implement energy conservation measures and flexible work arrangements in compliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive.
The Office of the President issued Memorandum Circular No. 114 “directing all government agencies and instrumentalities to strictly adopt energy conservation protocols” in light of the fuel price hike due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
“The City of Taguig assures the public that government services will continue without disruption as the City implements energy conservation protocols and flexible work arrangements pursuant to Memorandum No. 114 issued by the Office of the President,” the Taguig City government stated.
It added, “City Hall offices that render essential services will continue to serve the public from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, ensuring that residents may access frontline services during regular office hours.
“The City Government also calls on all Taguigeños to practice energy-saving measures in their homes and workplaces in support of the national effort to conserve energy, ensure stable energy supply, mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs, and protect the environment,” it said.
The memorandum circular stated that “the ongoing geopolitical tensions have led to significant volatility in global energy markets, resulting in the rising cost of fuel that impacts the national economy. There is an urgent need to adopt strict energy conservation measures, to further reduce the energy footprint of government operations and optimize the use of public resources.”
It added, “All agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including GOCCs, are hereby directed, and local government units, constitutional bodies, state universities and colleges, and other government instrumentalities are likewise encouraged, to adopt and implement the energy conservation measures set forth in this Memorandum Circular (MC).”
Government agencies will implement a four-day onsite work schedule starting March 9 which will be in effect until revoked by the President.
