Sultan Kudarat guv assures aid for displaced Middle East OFWs
MANGUDADATU
DAVAO CITY – Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu has assured assistance for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returning home from conflict-torn Middle East.
He said that the provincial government is ready to facilitate the repatriation of the OFWs once commercial flights are available.
The provincial government will coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and Philippine Embassies in the region once the no-fly zone is lifted and airport operations resume, Mangudadatu said.
He instructed concerned department heads to coordinate with the families of affected OFWs to monitor the situation of their loved ones abroad.
The governor assured that the provincial government is assessing possible assistance that can be extended to their families during this time.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has ordered gasoline stations in the province to adhere to the government’s fuel pricing guidelines.
Mangudadatu issued a warning against hoarders and said the illegal sale of petroleum products is strictly prohibited under Batas Pambansa Bilang 33 as amended by Presidential Decree No. 1865.
“Violators may face penalties, fines, or the cancellation of their business permits,” the governor said, adding that he has instructed the Department of Trade and Industry-Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office to closely monitor all gasoline stations in the province.
He urged the public to report violators to authorities.
“The provincial government of Sultan Kudarat urges all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring fair fuel pricing and protecting consumers from illegal practices,” Mangudadatu said.
