Quezon City has been recognized as the Top Urbanized City in the country, highlighting its continued progress in economic growth, infrastructure development, and local governance.
According to the city government, the recognition reflects sustained efforts to improve public services and maintain a high level of development for residents.
The distinction was based on the latest report released in 2024 by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress (CCMC), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which assessed the competitiveness of 33 highly urbanized cities across the country.
In the report, Quezon City emerged as the top-ranked city based on several key indicators, including economic dynamism, effective local in government administration, infrastructure development, resilience of residents, and urban modernization.
The recognition underscores the local government’s continuing commitment to strengthening programs that support economic expansion, social services, and infrastructure improvements.
The leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte was also commended for pushing initiatives aimed at boosting the local economy while expanding programs that benefit residents.
Despite rapid urbanization, the city government said Quezon City continues to promote initiatives focused on inclusive development and improving the overall quality of life for QCitizens.
Quezon City is one of the country’s highly urbanized cities that are administratively independent from the provinces where they are geographically located, giving them separate governing authority despite their location within a provincial map.
