The Parañaque City government has implemented a work-from-home arrangement every Friday for city hall employees as part of the national government’s four-day on-site work directive.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez issued a memorandum order dated March 8, implementing the work-from-home setup every Friday, pursuant to the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. encouraging government offices to adopt a four-day physical workweek.
Aside from the work-from-home arrangement, Olivarez also ordered offices to minimize electricity consumption by turning off air-conditioning units 30 minutes to one hour before the end of office hours, along with unnecessary lighting, computers, and other electrical equipment.
The mayor said all employees are required to physically report for work from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays will be designated as work-from-home days.
To ensure the implementation of the city government’s austerity measures, Olivarez added that the use of electricity and government vehicles will be limited strictly to official government-related activities.
However, offices and departments that provide vital services—such as health services and disaster and calamity response—are exempted from the arrangement and will continue their regular operations.
