Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso personally led the distribution of milestone cash gifts to senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 during a ceremony at the Don Bosco Covered Court on Road 10 in Tondo, Manila, on Monday, March 9.
A total of 3,703 elderly Manileños will receive P10,000 each in recognition of their longevity and contributions to society, the local government said.
The program was organized by the National Commission for Senior Citizens in partnership with the Manila City Government through the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) under the Expanded Centenarians Act.
Under the law, Filipino senior citizens who reach the milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 are entitled to a P10,000 cash gift from the national government.
