Man mauls teenage daughter to death in Sagay City

BACOLOD CITY – A 17-year-old student was allegedly mauled to death by her father in their home in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Monday, March 9.
Police Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, Sagay police chief, said the victim’s grandfather sought assistance from the police when he heard his granddaughter shouting from the room of his 41-year-old son.
Police responded but nobody was answering when they arrived in the house.
Lawmen forcibly opened the door and saw the victim injured and sprawled on the floor. Her father was sitting on the bed and just staring at her.
Flores said the victim was hit with a pipe in the head and was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.
The suspect said he brought his daughter to his room to talk. 
Flores said the suspect alleged that he had not slept for a week.
Police are verifying information that the suspect, a tricycle driver, is allegedly suffering from depression.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
