The incident involving a motorcycle rider has reached the Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR).
The agency is set to issue a show-cause order directing the 30-year-old suspect from Silay City, Negros Occidental to explain why his driver’s license should not be suspended, revoked, or subjected to other administrative sanctions for his involvement in the incident.
Police Capt. Honey Labaro, Murcia police chief, said the victim allegedly cut the rider.
The suspect was irked and overtook and blocked the victim’s car. He punched the victim in the face. The suspect was apprehended by the police.
The victim and the suspect were brought to the Municipal Health Unit for examination.
Labaro said a complaint for physical injuries was filed on Monday against the rider, who, in a media interview, admitted hitting the victim once due to anger.
He apologized for his action and acknowledged that what he did was wrong.
The victim was also a former barangay captain and Association of Barangay Captain (ABC) president in Murcia. He is recuperating in a hospital here.
