Dan Villegas directs JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith in upcoming film 'Almost Us'
Acclaimed Filipino filmmaker Dan Villegas returns to the director’s chair with the upcoming romantic drama Almost Us, starring rising young talents JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith.
Produced by Regal Entertainment and Project 8 Projects, Almost Us brings together Villegas with fellow filmmaker and producer Antoinette Jadaone, continuing the creative partnership that has produced some of the most beloved modern Filipino romance films.
The movie follows a heartfelt story about two young people navigating friendship, love, and the complicated emotions that come with relationships that are almost—but not quite—meant to be.
Villegas, known for his nuanced storytelling and emotionally resonant films such as English Only, Please, The Breakup Playlist, Walang Forever, brings his signature touch to the project, guiding Ibarra and Smith in their first big-screen outing together.
In recently released first-look scenes shared on social media by Regal Entertainment and Project 8 Projects, fans were given a glimpse of the film’s intimate tone and the natural chemistry between its lead stars.
With Villegas at the helm and a promising new love team taking center stage, Almost Us is poised to deliver a moving cinematic experience for audiences when it premieres nationwide on May 6. (Robert Requintina)
