Taguig police chief says 2 personnel arrested in shabu sting to face criminal, administrative charges
The chief of the Taguig police said the two police officers who were arrested in a buy-bust operation on March 7 will face criminal and administrative charges.
The Taguig police corporals and three civilians were nabbed in the operation conducted in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig.
The Special Operations Unit-National Capital Region and Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group. Authorities recovered 100 grams of shabu valued at P680,000.
In a statement, Col. Julius Añonuevo, Taguig police officer-in-charge, said, “The Taguig City Police Station reiterates its firm stance against criminal activity, especially those committed by members of its own ranks. The station strictly enforces a zero tolerance policy against illegal acts and misconduct.”
“On March 7, 2026, five individuals, including two police personnel, were arrested during a successful anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City,” he said.
He added, “Following the incident, the two personnel involved will immediately face criminal and administrative charges, and all their privileges have been revoked pending the outcome of the investigation. Their immediate supervisor has likewise been relieved from post and will be held accountable for command responsibility.”
“While these personnel previously rendered notable service to the station, their alleged involvement in illegal activities will not be tolerated. The Taguig City Police Station will ensure due process of law while strictly enforcing accountability,” said Añonuevo.
The arrest, he said, “serves as a stern reminder that any wrongdoing by police personnel will not be tolerated and will be dealt with firmly.”
As a result, Añonuevo “ordered closer supervision and monitoring of all personnel under my command, including thorough reviews of their activities, conduct, and personal assets, to ensure strict adherence to the RD's [regional director’s] guiding principle: ‘Do what is right at all times and never engage in any illegal activity.’"
“This aligns fully with the CPNP's [PNP chief] focused agenda on Integrity Monitoring. The Taguig City Police Station assures the public that it remains committed to integrity, professionalism, and accountability in serving the community. The station will continue to cleanse its ranks and strengthen internal discipline to maintain the trust and confidence of the people of Taguig,” he said.
