The Quezon City government continues to provide assistance to at least 976 families who are temporarily staying in different evacuation centers after a massive fire hit a residential area along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan on Friday night, March 6.
According to the city government, affected residents were brought to several evacuation sites, including Flora Ylagan High School, Pinyahan Covered Court, San Isidro Labrador Parish, NIA Covered Court, NIA Building, Pinyahan Elementary School, NAPOCOR Office, and the NHA Balik Probinsya Covered Court at Manila Seedling.
The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) deployed mobile shower units in evacuation centers to provide sanitation facilities for affected families.
It added that medical teams were also assigned to assist injured residents and monitor the health of evacuees.
Meanwhile, the Quezon City Veterinary Department set up a pet holding area for animals belonging to affected families.
Authorities from the Department of Sanitation and Cleanup Works (DSQC) continue waste collection in evacuation centers to maintain cleanliness.
The city government said it continues to assist affected residents and is accepting donations such as new clothes, baby diapers, food packs, hygiene kits, and pet food for dogs and cats.
It added that donations may be turned over to Social Services Development Department (SSDD) teams stationed at evacuation centers.
The local government also conducted field monitoring and an initial assessment in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office NCR, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), on Saturday, March 7.
