CANDON CITY — From the hardcourt to the gaming arena.
The PBA, as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, has finally launched its very own online mobile basketball game, ‘Court Kings’, during the league’s ArenaPlus All-Star Weekend at the Hotel Van Gogh on Sunday, March 8.
The league, in partnership with Dark League Studios and AniLu studios, developed the 3x3 basketball game which will allow the players to unlock and pick the PBA stars as their playable characters in the game.
It features authentic PBA teams, players, logos, jerseys and courts and will be available for download on Google playstore and IOS at 8 p.m. Sunday.
“Proud kami dahil sisiguraduhin ko sa mga bata na gustong malaro itong si June Mar, si Calvin mga players natin. Makikita nila yung mga mukha nila,” said SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua, highlighting how the game characters exactly looked like the PBA harcourt heroes.
“Kaya gusto namin ito i-launch sa PBA kaya ho namin ipagmalaki na ang gumawa ho nito sariling atin mga pinoy. Kaya ako ay very proud sa mga batang ito na nagsikap para dito,” he added.
The vision for the Court Kings is to develop it similar to that of NBA 2K games — something that Dark League Studios CEO AC Valdenor hopes to achieve when they finally create the 5-on-5 version of the game and eventually build a competitive esports environment for the players.
“Yung game natin mag-iinnovate yan at gaganda pa iyan for the future. Ang maganda nga sabi ni comm Willie ang PBA magsusupport sa esports para sa younger generation,” said Valdenor who was also joined by PBA players June Mar Fajardo, Calvin Oftana, Calvin Abueva, Robert Bolick and Santi Santillan during the press launch.
“They also plan to do esports using PBA Court Kings kung dati ang ginagamit natin is yung esports ng ibang game like ML and Call of Duty now meron naman tayong sariling atin sa PBA,” he added.
Well-known gamers Fajardo and Oftana, meanwhile, expressed excitement for the league’s new official game.
“Mas maganda malaro ng mga bata kasi alam naman natin kung gaano karami ang nanonood ng PBA so maexperience nila yung laro tas magagamit nila yung players nila na paborito so ito malaking bagay ito sa PBA,” said Fajardo.
“Blessed ako and thankful ako na nasali ako dito. Sana maging maganda at mag improve ang game na ito kasi isa rin ako sa maglalaro nito eh gaya ni June Mar mahilig din ako sa games,” said Oftana
“Siguro gagamitin ko yung June Mar Fajardo don para mafeel ko naman kung paano nasa taas,” he quipped.
