CANDON CITY — It was all fun and games until the All-Stars decided it’s winning time.

After three quarters filled with highlight dunks and explosive outside shooting, the North switched it on and pulled away in the final minute to sneak past the South, 147-142, in the PBA Season 50 ArenaPlus All-Star Game at the Candon City Arena here.

The complexion of the contest completely changed in the fourth quarter as the players went on to flaunt their game faces with the North led by Justin Arana and Japeth Aguilar clamping down on the defensive end in the waning minutes.

Down by two, 140-142, Arana put in the work with consecutive baskets before the North pulled off two straight defensive stops on the South.

Aguilar then soared for the three-point dunk that put the dagger to the hearts of the South.

The Barangay Ginebra center posted 29 points and six rebounds to claim his third All-Star MVP award on his 10th appearance in the festivities.

CJ Perez fired 32 points while Arana had 12 of his 16 points in the final frame. Juan Gomez de Liaño and Adrian Nocum had 23 and 22 respectively.

Arana’s teammate Alec Stockton, meanwhile, paced the South with 29 points while RJ Abarrientos fired 26.
