BACOLOD CITY – Five Overseas Filipinos Workers from Negros Occidental have sought repatriation from war-torn Middle East.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said two new requests for repatriation been made through the Provincial Help Desk and these have been forwarded to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Three OFWs from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia earlier requested assistance for repatriation.
Several OFWs from Isabela, Candoni, Ilog, Pulupandan, Hinigaran, as well as the cities of Himamaylan, Victorias, and Talisay, have requested unspecified assistance from the provincial government due to the conflict.
One OFW working in Qatar sought assistance for a safe workplace since her employer has no bomb shelter.
Negros Occidental has 16,623 OFWs working in the Middle East.
