Three individuals were arrested by operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) after a viral Facebook post allegedly showed them engaged in a “pot session” beneath a bridge in Ermita, Manila.
Operatives from the MPD Lawton Police Community Precinct (PCP) arrested the suspects on the morning of March 3 under the MacArthur Bridge, particularly along Arroceros Extension in Ermita.
According to the initial report of Police Major Val Valencia, chief of the Lawton PCP, the arrests came a day after a netizen’s post circulated on social media showing the suspects allegedly using illegal drugs in the area.
The video quickly drew attention online, prompting authorities to verify the information and conduct a follow-up operation that led to the suspects’ apprehension at the same location.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso thanked the concerned citizen who shared the information, noting that the viral post helped authorities track down and arrest the suspects.
City officials said the incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement in addressing illegal activities in public spaces.
