More than 1,000 law offenders and fugitives were arrested while more than P855 million worth of smuggled contraband and other products in a monthlong operation in February by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert AA Morico II said those arrested also include communist rebels, members of criminal syndicates and fugitives whose names are in national down to city and municipal wanted lists.
The same operations, according to Morico, also resulted in the confiscation of 137 loose firearms; 28 explosives devices; 121 assorted magazines; and 1,541 rounds of live ammunition.
The CIDG is currently in the frontline of operations against smuggled cigarettes and in February this year, those it seized are included in P855 million worth of products seized, particularly the illegal cigarette- making facility in San Fernando, San Simon, and Apalit, Pampanga and Zamboanga.
Aside from smuggled cigarettes, also confiscated were cellphones, computers, cigarettes, vape products, and LPG cylinder, and petroleum products.
“These accomplishments mean less instruments of crimes and less criminal elements on the streets. These also underscored the CIDG’s commitment in enforcing all the law, and unyielding fight against all forms of criminality and violation of laws; and unrelenting manhunt operations across the country,” said Morico.
Morico also vowed to sustain the gains in anti-criminal operations across the country.
