2 killed, 3 hurt as dump truck hits 4 motorcycles in Tanay

Two motorcycle riders died, while three others were injured, after a dump truck crashed into four motorcycles in Barangay Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal, on Friday, March 6.

The Tanay Municipal Police said the truck driver was cruising along Marilaque Highway when the vehicle allegedly lost its brakes, causing it to crash into two individuals onboard a Yamaha NMAX scooter that was waiting at a traffic stop. 

Despite the truck driver's attempts to control his vehicle, the truck hit three more motorcycles at the side of the road before coming to a complete stop.

The occupants of the four motorcycles were quickly rushed to the hospital; however, the driver and passenger of the Yamaha NMAX first hit by the truck were declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the three other victims are now in stable condition after sustaining minor injuries in the crash.

The truck driver was placed under police custody and will be facing charges of multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries, and multiple damages to property.
