Man shot dead while trying to stop motorcycle theft in San Mateo

A 25-year-old man was shot dead after attempting to stop three men who stole his motorcycle in San Mateo, Rizal on Thursday night, March 5.

The San Mateo Municipal Police identified the victim as “John,” a resident of Barangay Guitnang Bayan 1.

Police said the incident happened at around 11:11 p.m. along a street in Vista Del Sol Subdivision in the same barangay.

According to investigators, the victim was about to buy food from a pares cart when the suspects suddenly took his parked white motorcycle.

When the victim tried to stop them, one of the suspects shot him with a 9mm pistol at close range.

The suspects then fled toward General Luna Street, taking the victim’s motorcycle.

The victim was rushed to Ynares Memorial Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

Authorities said the suspects were wearing white helmets, while one was seen wearing a Joyride sleeve.

Police have launched dragnet and follow-up operations to identify and arrest the suspects.
