The city government of Las Piñas launched “Kilatis Kutis 2026” as part of the observance of Leprosy Control Week to strengthen public awareness of skin diseases, particularly leprosy, and to encourage early consultation and prompt treatment.
Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar said the launch of “Kilatis Kutis 2026” was held at the Aguilar Sports Complex, led by the City Health Office in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), World Health Organization (WHO), Philippine Dermatological Society, and the Culion Foundation Inc.
Aguilar said the program aims to remind the public that leprosy is curable and should not be feared, while further strengthening the city’s health services to ensure the well-being of every Las Piñero under the campaign “Alaga ang Balat, Alaga ang Kalusugan.”
She said that during the activity, residents were provided with free dermatological consultations conducted by specialists from the Philippine Dermatological Society.
The mayor added that free screening for leprosy, free medicines, and free chest X-rays were also offered.
Aguilar also said that those who underwent chest X-ray examinations received one kilogram of rice as additional support from the city government.
