Gunmen of village chair in Cagayan nabbed

CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan –
Police have arrested two suspects in the murder of Barangay Chairman Bernardo Sibal Gacuan of Barangay Dos, Enrile, Cagayan on May 9, 2025.
Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., Police Regional Office-2 chief, identified the suspects as Mavie, 30, and Arnie, 25.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, March 4, in Calumpit, Bulacan on a warrant for murder with no bail recommended issued on Sept. 16, 2025 by a court here.
Investigation said that the victim was killed inside the barangay hall. The suspects followed the victim to his office before shooting him. The suspects fled on a motorcycle without a license plate.
The PRO-2 said the suspects were arrested through intelligence operations that included closed-circuit television backtracking and validation in several areas before they were located in Calumpit.
Police said the successful operation underscores the intensified campaign against wanted persons and the continuing efforts to maintain peace and order in the region.
