Fitness and historical places in one event? Sparkle Run got you covered!
With the rising number of fun run events this year, GMA's official talent management, Sparkle Artist Center, is holding its first fun run on May 30.
During the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) held at the Manila City Hall recently, GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes and Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo were joined by Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso in forging a partnership with the Department of Tourism, Culture, and Arts of Manila (DTCAM) as the official venue partner.
Also present at the event was RUNRIO Inc. founder and elite marathoner Rio De la Cruz, who will serve as the official event organizer.
During the short program, Atty. Annette shared how excited to officially launch the event.
"Gusto natin kasi i-promote ang health and wellness dito sa Sparkle. Marami talaga tayong artists and influencers na into fitness, and excited kami to show sa mga tao na we have to take care of our health, and I'm very happy na ka-partner natin dito ang City of Manila (We want to promote health and wellness here at Sparkle. We have a lot of artists and influencers who are into fitness, and we are excited to show people that we have to take care of our health, and I'm very happy that the City of Manila is our partner here)," Atty. Annette said.
Meanwhile, Coach Rio added that he looks forward to the event, as it will reach out to younger people and teach them the importance of staying healthy and active.
"We are very happy with this partnership, kasi siyempre ‘yung running ngayon ay talagang very popular and gusto pa natin mas may ma-reach out tayo na mga kabataan, mga kababayan natin na gustong magkaroon ng healthy lifestyle (We are very happy with this partnership because of course running is very popular these days, and we want to reach out to more young people, our countrymen who want to have a healthy lifestyle)," Coach Rio shared.
With the City of Manila's support, the upcoming event aims to transform the streets into a dynamic space filled with energy, encouragement, and shared joy. The race route will pass through key historical landmarks in Manila.
"Manila is a very old city, but it has a lot of story to tell and a lot of history and it's [an] opportunity also for the younger generation to be reminded noong mga naganap at makasaysayang lugar (Manila is a very old city, but it has a lot of story to tell and a lot of history and it's [an] opportunity also for the younger generation to be reminded of the past and historic places),” Mayor Isko said.
With 8,000 participants expected, Sparkle Run invites everyone to join, from seasoned runners to first-timers. More details on registration will be announced soon on the Sparkle and RunRio social media pages.
Fans can look forward to a one-of-a-kind experience that brings people together in a celebration of good vibes, shared energy, and genuine Kapuso kindness.
