A total of 2,649 educators from the Davao Region formally took their oath after receiving career promotions under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) program of the Department of Education (DepEd), reinforcing the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s basic education workforce.
The ceremonial oath-taking was led by DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara at Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School on Friday, March 6, marking a significant milestone in the professional advancement of teachers and school leaders across the region.
Angara said the initiative aligns with the education priorities of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the government’s broader commitment to support educators.
“Sa pangunguna ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, katuwang ang Kongreso, kinikilala natin ang sakripisyo at walang sawang dedikasyon ng ating mga guro at school heads sa pagsusulong ng dekalidad na edukasyon sa ating bansa—kaya’t prayoridad natin ang pagpapatupad ng Expanded Career Progression sa ating bansa,” Angara said.
(Under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos, together with Congress, we recognize the sacrifice and tireless dedication of our teachers and school heads in advancing quality education in our country—that is why we prioritize the implementation of the Expanded Career Progression in our nation.)
He added that strengthening teachers and school leaders remains essential to ensuring quality basic education nationwide.
“We must ensure that the very foundation of education remains strong—and one way to do that is by further reinforcing and empowering the workforce of the basic education system,” he added.
Teachers promoted across Davao Region
The newly promoted educators came from various provinces and cities in the Davao Region: 456 from Davao Oriental; 391 from Davao del Norte; 358 from Panabo City; 344 from Davao de Oro; 283 from the Island Garden City of Samal; 237 from Mati City; 195 from Digos City; 172 from Davao City; 123 from Davao del Sur; 69 from Tagum City; and 21 from Davao Occidental.

DepEd said the oath-taking ceremony forms part of its broader effort to promote 100,000 teachers nationwide within the fiscal year, a major component of the agency’s Five-Point Reform Agenda aimed at strengthening the education workforce.
New Schools Division Office building inaugurated
Following the ceremony, Angara also led the blessing of the new Schools Division Office (SDO) facility in Davao de Oro, highlighting the department’s continuing investment in improving support systems for education personnel.
The new SDO building will serve 7,615 teaching and 739 non-teaching personnel, who collectively support 204,682 learners across 456 schools in the province.
Angara also acknowledged the support of local officials and education partners in advancing reforms and strengthening education programs in the region.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo dahil malinaw nating nakikita ang matibay na suporta ng ating mga education champions dito sa Davao Region, at patuloy na nagkakaisa at nagtutulungan ang ating field offices at local government units upang matiyak na mabibigyan ng sapat at makabuluhang suporta ang ating mga guro at mag-aaral,” he added.
(We are grateful because we clearly see the strong support of our education champions here in the Davao Region, and our field offices and local government units continue to unite and work together to ensure that our teachers and learners are provided with sufficient and meaningful support.)
Aside from Angara, the event was attended by Davao de Oro 1st District Representative Marica Carmen Zamora-Mabanglo, Governor Raul Mabanglo, and 2nd District Representative Leonel Ceniza, along with DepEd officials and education stakeholders.
