Disney's newest cruise ship makes a splash ahead of maiden voyage from Singapore

As the orchestra played with all its might, the smoke cleared up, and out came the Iron Man himself. Robert Downey Jr. and the top brass of Disney executives formally wished good fortune for the future journeys of Disney Adventure during its christening. And as the audience hooted and hollered on the night before its preview sailing, it was just a taste of the excitement awaiting everyone.

Hopping aboard the Disney Adventure for first-timers can be overwhelming at first due to its massive size. Though its enormous stature only shows how much there is to explore and enjoy. There are seven themed areas to visit, each one based on Disney’s popular franchises.

Among the seven stops, our favorite is the San Fransokyo Street area based on the “Big Hero 6” movie. There are tons of fun arcade games to try out, as well as four mini movie theaters at Baymax Cinema to drop by and enjoy fan-favorite Disney flicks. You can also have your photo taken at the many Instagrammable corners in the area. For teens and children, there are also the youth clubs, Edge and Vibe, where they can play video games and make new friends along the way. Another area worth stopping by is Marvel Landing. Here, you can try out the rides and meet Marvel heroes like Spider-Man. Test your might by trying out the Ironcycle Test Run, a fully-operational rollercoaster at the top of the ship.

Similar to its theme parks, the cruise also has countless areas where entertainment shows go on during scheduled hours. On our first night, we caught “Disney Seas the Adventure” at the ship’s dedicated theater area. In it, Captain Minnie Mouse lends the steering wheel to Goofy to take guests for a spin. Along the way, we meet our favorite characters from several Disney movies like “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled,” “Frozen,” “Moana,” and more.

After going through some of these activities, you might find yourself feeling a little hungry. There are several restaurants to choose from, depending on what you’re craving. Our personal favorite is Pizza Planet, inspired by the pizza arcade chain in the “Toy Story” movies. You can pick whatever flavor and take as many slices as you can finish. You can never go wrong with pepperoni pizza. If you find yourself feeling too tired to venture out, there’s also the 24/7 dining room service. You just have to give room service a call, and your meal will be brought to you to enjoy within the comfort of your own room.

As for accommodations, there are four different stateroom types to pick from: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. Concierge is the most luxurious option, providing opportunities like private retreats and access to luxury shopping and spa services. Verandah staterooms offer ample space and a private balcony, whereas Oceanview staterooms provide scenic views with a large window. Meanwhile, the Inside stateroom grants easier access to restaurants and lounges.
If you ever find yourself lost or unsure what to do next, all of the activities and information you need are conveniently stored in a single app. Using the Disney Cruise Line app, you can check show and dining schedules, book your restaurants, and see what other activities are available for you and your family to check out. Plus, there are crew members roaming around each of the ship’s sections. Many of whom are fellow Filipinos who are happy to lend a helping hand to kababayans.
Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage is set to sail on Tuesday, March 10, from Singapore.
