Two men were arrested for stealing solar lights and their components, including aluminum sidings, holders, plates, and battery packs, along the jogging lane in Barangay Nangka, Marikina City on Thursday morning, March 5.

The Marikina City Police Station (Marikina CPS) said the theft was reported by the Barangay Inspector of Barangay Nangka, who discovered several solar lights missing from the jogging lane during an inspection at around 9:30 a.m.
Barangay personnel and an officer from the Marikina CPS Station Intelligence Section immediately conducted a follow-up operation, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects, identified as “Abdul,” 29, and “Dava,” 23.
Authorities said the suspects were caught in the act while dismantling the solar lights.
A witness also stated that Dava was the one who climbed the post of the solar lamp and dismantled it, while Abdul was the one who placed the dismantled solar lights and their parts inside a sack.

Items seized from the suspects include a half sack of aluminum sidings for solar lights (fragmented) worth P550, a box of aluminum holders and plates for solar lights (fragmented) worth P700, a solar panel with an LED light worth P5,000, and four battery packs for solar lights worth P3,200. The Barangay Inspector identified the recovered items as the property of Barangay Nangka.
The suspects are now detained at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility and are facing theft charges.
