The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is fast-tracking the construction of a housing project in Manila which is expected to provide modern homes for over 6,000 mostly informal settler residents.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the Port Town Housing Project in Manila is implemented through a joint venture between Pag-IBIG Fund and the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC).
The first phase will generate 2,150 housing units across the five buildings.
"These homes aim to address the urgent need for affordable, ready-to-occupy housing for informal settler families in Manila," said Aliling who led a site inspection on Tuesday.
Aliling explained that the inspection was conducted to monitor construction progress and identify potential issues early, ensuring high standards are maintained.

To accelerate housing delivery further, DHSUD introduced new modalities allowing Pag-IBIG Fund to partner with other agencies, including SHFC and the National Housing Authority (NHA).
These partnerships are intended to expand the rollout of 4PH projects nationwide.
“Through these collaborations, we aim to help more Filipino families achieve the dream of owning their own homes while ensuring timely, quality construction,” Aliling said.
