Pasay City's Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) had shut down an illegal chicken slaughter operation being conducted inside a residence in Barangay 126, in the city.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the BPLO, under the supervision of Atty. Patrick Legaspi, acted on a report received from an anonymous caller through the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Hotline.
Rubiano said a team from the BPLO, together with personnel from the City Administrator’s Office, City Health Office (CHO), City Veterinary Office, and the local police, inspected the reported residential area.
She said the complainant reported that the illegal chicken slaughter operation had been emitting foul odor in the neighborhood and that blood was often seen scattered in front of the property.
The BPLO also confirmed that the area is registered as a private residential property and does not have the necessary permits to operate any business, particularly activities involving the slaughter of animals.
The city government said the operation violated existing laws and city regulations governing sanitation, animal slaughter, and business operations.
The city government reiterated its call for residents and business owners to comply with city ordinances and secure the proper permits before engaging in any business activity, especially those involving food processing and animal handling, to ensure public health and safety.
