Muntinlupa LGU provides employment to vulnerable sectors
At the entrance of the Muntinlupa City Hall, senior citizens welcome visitors as part of their duties as "senior greeters.”
It is one of the many roles created under the city government’s Suporta sa Muntinlupeño para sa Inklusibong Kabuhayan Program (SuMIKaP), a short-term employment program for members of the vulnerable sectors.
Since its rollout in 2024, 7,067 Muntinlupa residents have benefited from SuMIKaP, opening opportunities for sectors such as senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), members of the LGBTQIA+ community, mothers of children with special needs, and workers who have recently lost their livelihoods.
“SuMIKaP is more than just financial aid; it is about restoring dignity through opportunity,” said Mayor Ruffy Biazon.
Under the program, beneficiaries are given roles that match their capabilities and circumstances, allowing them to contribute productively while earning additional income.
Senior citizens, for example, serve as greeters who assist visitors at the city hall, while other beneficiaries take on support roles that respect their abilities and schedules—particularly for caregivers and individuals with special needs in their families.
During the 31st cityhood anniversary, the city government highlighted SuMIKaP as part of its continuing push for inclusive economic participation, translating the principles of Kabuhayan (Livelihood) and Katarungan (Justice) into concrete opportunities for residents.
In a recent milestone, several SuMIKaP beneficiaries were also integrated into the Mega Jobs Fair held on Feb. 27, providing them with pathways toward more permanent employment.
