The Philippine women’s football team absorbed its second straight defeat in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup after bowing to South Korea, 0-3, at the Gold Coast Stadium in Australia.
The world No. 22 Koreans wasted little time asserting control, with Jeon Yu-Gyeong opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a left-footed strike from the center of the box off an assist from Kim Shin-Jin.
Park Seo-Jeong doubled the advantage just three minutes later, curling a right-footed shot into the top right corner off a setup by Choo Hyo-Joo.
South Korea kept the pressure on, with Jeon nearly scoring again in the 20th minute, but the attempt was ruled offside.
The Filipinas, ranked No. 41st, tried to respond as Carleigh Frilles unleashed a left-footed shot from outside the box, only for goalkeeper Kim Min-Jung to come up with the save.
Olivia McDaniel also stood her ground for the Filipinas, denying several attempts including a left-footed strike in the 55th minute from Son Hwa-Yeon.
However, Mun Eun-Ju managed to break through a minute later, firing a right-footed shot from close range into the bottom right corner to seal the win for the Koreans.
