Two people were killed while four others were injured in a shooting incident inside a basketball court at a condominium complex in Parañaque on Wednesday night, March 4.
Police said the victims were reportedly playing basketball when a 59-year-old suspect, allegedly armed with a 9mm pistol, opened fire in the area.
The incident occurred at around 7:59 p.m. at the basketball court of Azure Residences, located in Barangay Marcelo Green.
According to Parañaque City Police Chief Col. Nicolas Pinon, the suspect, who is a resident of one of the condominium units, reportedly went down from his unit for no apparent reason, entered through the main gate of the basketball court, and started shooting at the group of men playing basketball.
Pinon said that based on the CCTV footage obtained by the police, the group of men scampered in different directions while two victims were critically wounded and later died due to the shooting.
He added that the four injured victims were rushed to a hospital after the incident and were reportedly in unstable condition.
The city police chief said the suspect exited through the main gate of the basketball court and fled on foot toward a mall after the shooting.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and to locate and arrest the suspect.
