Eleven vice mayors from Bulacan remain stranded in Dubai as they attempt to secure flights back to the Philippines, according to the provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Myrvi Fabia, DILG provincial director in Bulacan, confirmed in an interview that the stranded officials have already obtained flight schedules for their return.
The group had traveled to the Middle East on a personal trip with proper authorization from the DILG. However, their plans were disrupted when armed conflict erupted involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla also confirmed reports, stating the Bulacan vice mayors departed last Wednesday after securing travel authority but are now unable to leave Dubai.
In addition to the 11 vice mayors, one Bulacan mayor is also reported to be stranded in the area.
