Suspect nabbed in QC jewelry shop heist; police track down robbers
Police arrested a 59-year-old man believed to be part of a group that staged a brazen hold-up at a jewelry store in Barangay Pasong Putik on Feb. 27, as authorities continue to pursue his alleged accomplices.
The arrest took place before dawn on Tuesday, March 3, in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, following several days of tracking and surveillance by operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
The suspect, identified as alias“Wilfredo,” is part of the robbery of the THRES HOLD Silver Accessories Shop, where six armed men reportedly robbed cash and jewelry valued at about P653,500.
The group fled the area on three motorcycles.
Investigators said forensic teams processed the crime scene shortly after the incident, recovering a .45-caliber cartridge and lifting fingerprints to aid in identifying the perpetrators.
Follow-up operations, led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and personnel of Police Station 16, traced one of the suspects in Caloocan.
Recovered from the suspect is an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver loaded with three live rounds.
Alias “Wilfredo” is set to face charges for robbery, illegal possession of firearms under Republic Act No. 10591, and violation of Republic Act No. 11235, also known as the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act.
Police are now pursuing leads on the remaining suspects, including individuals possibly linked to a metallic silver Mitsubishi Xpander reportedly spotted near the store around the time of the robbery.
