Mikey Williams is set for PBA return after finally joining Converge in its preparations for the upcoming PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup.
The high-scoring guard, who went on an almost three-year sabbatical, took to Instagram and posted a story of a FiberXers poster to announce his return to the league.
Converge acquired the rights to the two-time PBA champion in June 2025 in exchange for Jordan Heading. After a series of back-and-forth negotiations, he finally signed a one-year deal with the team.
“It’s all God,” wrote Williams. “Just like that, it begins.”
Williams is one of the biggest additions to Converge during a very busy offseason that also saw the team land Calvin Abueva through a trade with Titan Ultra.
They will join a young and formidable crew that also featured the twin towers of Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar as well as do-it-all guards Juan Gomez de Liano and Alec Stockton.
The bigger question, however, is how fit is the 34-year-old Williams for the mid-season conference which fires off on Wednesday, March 11, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. The FiberXers are set to open their campaign against PBA guest team Macau Black Bears.
After his stint with TNT, Williams stepped away from competitive basketball and only saw action when he joined the Strong Group Athletics during the Dubai International Basketball in 2025.
At his peak, Williams is no doubt one of the most lethal scorers, having won two PBA Finals MVP awards, the scoring champion and PBA first mythical team citations.
