BACOLOD CITY - A 47-year-old American allegedly stabbed and injured his wife in their home in Barangay 5, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, March 1.
Investigation said that the suspect arrived in their home intoxicated and visibly angry.
He grabbed a knife and attacked his 37-year-old wife following a misunderstanding that began a few days earlier.
A neighbor called authorities after the victim sought help. Responding officers found the woman with stab wounds in her stomach and face. She is recuperating in a hospital.
The suspect was arrested and faces charges for violence against women.
Police released no further details upon the request of the family.
Meanwhile, a robbery suspect was killed and his companion was arrested in an encounter with the police after robbing a taxi driver here on Monday, March 2.
Police Capt. Peter Ramos, head of Police Station 6, said the 74-year-old driver lost P2,100 and sustained minor injuries when he fought the suspects.
Ramos said the status of the police officer who neutralized one of the suspects will be determined by his commanding officer.
Robbery charges are being prepared against the arrested suspect. Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
