Beyond the spotlight: Charina Carmen Josol's mission to uplift and inspire
Singer-songwriter Charina Carmen Josol is a multi-talented celebrity who balances careers in music, business, modeling, and pageantry. Her passion for singing began early—she started performing at her town’s fiesta at just five years old. She quickly became a beauty queen, runway model, painter, dancer, and gymnast, competing in school, regional, and national events. These diverse experiences helped shape her confidence and dynamic stage presence.

"I compose or write eclectic songs depending on my inspiration or intense emotions at that moment. Since empowerment has always been part of my advocacy, most of my songs are inspirational or have a gospel influence. Let me share some of the songs I’ve written," Charina shares.
She continues, "My debut single, 'Carry On,' was a collaboration with a friend. I wanted to uplift people during the lockdown through music. The song has been available on my YouTube channel, Charina CJ, since 2021.
"Other inspirational songs I’ve written include 'Aking Paraiso,' 'Ordinary Saints,' and 'Make Some Noise.' 'Make Some Noise' emphasizes that doing what you love, giving your best, and offering your efforts to God truly matters.
'Ordinary Saints' highlights that sainthood isn’t about dramatic, headline-making actions. Instead, it’s about offering everyday things to God, transforming them into something extraordinary—acts that become prayers in themselves.

'Aking Paraiso' is inspired by the joy of being with my family and friends at a beach gathering just after the lockdown—a moment that felt like paradise to me.
"I also wrote a Christmas song called 'Pasko Na,' which centers on God as the true reason for the season and the joy of being with loved ones. Another song, 'Invincible,' was inspired by a close friend’s heartbreak—a story I related to deeply as her mentor, so I turned her experience into a song for her.
"I also wrote 'Hug Me' for my only son, Gerard, celebrating our happy, silly moments together and my love for embracing him. This song can also resonate with lovers or friends. The music for these tracks was arranged by Marie Jo Andap and H Music. Ms. Andap has also contributed several beautiful, inspirational songs for my upcoming album. So far, 'Carry On,' 'Hug Me,' 'Pasko Na,' and 'Less Is Wasted Love' (composed by Marie Jo Andap) have been released and are streaming on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music under my artist name, Charina Carmen," she adds.
Charina, dubbed the Singing Advocacy Queen of the Philippines, shared her favorite artists and dream collaboration as a musician.
"I would love to collaborate with Sarah Geronimo. Her voice is incredibly powerful yet controlled and calm, filled with strength, sincerity, and humility. I also resonate with her kind personality. I believe working with her would result in a song that is both empowering and heartfelt.

"My favorite singer is Whitney Houston. She’s a legend—her voice is superb: powerful, timeless, and emotionally moving. Her music continues to inspire generations, and that legacy is truly remarkable," Carmen adds.
Beyond her accomplishments in music, modeling, and pageantry, Charina is also a motivational speaker who has inspired diverse audiences both locally and internationally.
Recently, Charina made history at London Runway Fashion Week as the only Filipino model to walk for House of Ikons under Rochie Couture Finland, proudly representing her roots on an international stage. She is also preparing to launch her upcoming music video series.
Charina also announced plans for her team to hold a fundraising concert to benefit underserved communities.
"We’re planning to hold the fundraising concert in June or later in the year. It’s very important to me that this event is well-prepared and purposeful. Beyond music, it will serve as a platform to uplift and support causes close to my heart," she says.
Charina shared that music allows her to express gratitude to God for her blessings.
"Through music, I find joy in expressing myself, inspiring others, and showing gratitude to God for countless blessings—especially the gift of family.

"When writing songs, I immerse myself in the world of my inspiration. I internalize, fully feel the emotions, and express them honestly. I need a quiet space to do this.
I choose to see the world with hope, cheerfulness, faith, and optimism, even in the face of challenges. That perspective strongly influences my music, and I want to share it with the world—especially with my fellow Filipinos," she says.
For Women’s Month, Charina shares, "Over the years, I’ve spoken to many women and young people, and I see how vulnerable they are—especially young girls today compared to previous generations. These girls will become the light of future families and communities, so it’s crucial that we guide them well.
"In our busy world, my message is to practice self-love—it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. But don’t forget to pray and balance your roles and priorities. For me, family remains my top priority.
"I also encourage resilience and holding firmly to virtues that shape strong character. These values help us overcome challenges, achieve our dreams, and live meaningful lives for our families, loved ones, and communities.
"Remember, character influences destiny, and values help us overcome vices. Above all, put God first in everything—offer your dreams, struggles, and efforts to Him. When we live with the right values and give our best each day, success will follow—not just in achievements and relationships, but in becoming the best version of ourselves," Charina adds..
