The Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) has ranked 24th among 33 hospitals in the Philippines included in the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 list released by New York-based magazine Newsweek in partnership with Germany-based research and data firm Statista.
The global ranking evaluated 2,530 hospitals across 32 countries, which assessed the institutions based on four key criteria: (1) peer recommendations from medical professionals, (2) hospital quality metrics, (3) patient experience, and (4) the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
PROMs are standardized and validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their functional well-being and overall quality of life.
“This recognition will surely inspire us to continue improving our programs and further enhance the quality of medical care we provide to our fellow QCitizens,” QCGH Medical Director Dr. Josephine Sabando said.
Operated by the Quezon City local government, the hospital is a 250-bed Level III tertiary facility with 10 fully accredited departments and an established fellowship training program.

QCGH currently runs accredited training programs in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Radiology, Otolaryngology, and Ophthalmology.
Mayor Joy Belmonte described the recognition as a “testament” to the city’s continued investment in public healthcare.
“We continue to improve our facilities and upgrade our services to address health concerns effectively and to ensure that QCitizens receive the exceptional medical care they deserve,” Belmonte said.
QCGH is the first local government unit-run hospital in the country to offer a “Fellowship Training Program in Geriatric Medicine,” according to the city government.
In addition, it is a pioneer hospital in North Metro Manila to provide fellowship training in “ultrasound and CT-MRI” through its Radiology Department.
The local government also noted that in 2025, the hospital received its first “unqualified opinion” from the Commission on Audit.
The QCGH’s Human Milk Bank and the QC Protection Center were honored by the Philippine Commission on Women as Gender and Development Local Learning Hubs” due to their efforts in advancing women’s rights and combating gender discrimination.
The “World’s Best Hospitals 2026” list highlighted leading medical institutions across Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
