BACOLOD CITY – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has activated its Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Help Desk and Hotline to assist residents whose families, friends, and loved ones are in areas affected by the conflict in the Middle East.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said that Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered all-out support to OFWs in the Middle East.
Diaz said that they received one call from a resident of Isabela town, who was supposed to travel for work to Riyadh, but the flight was diverted back to Manila.
He added they are trying to coordinate with the person to provide assistance to enable her to return to the province.
The provincial government has committed to provide timely information, guidance, and support to those who may need assistance during this challenging time, in coordination with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Diaz said they will prepare financial assistance for individuals displaced by the ongoing tension. They will also coordinate with OWWA in case repatriation is necessary.
For Negros Occidental residents currently working and staying in the Middle East, they can reach hotlines 0998 956 9037 or 0924 109 7705.
