Mayor Biazon DJs at 'Rock the South' as Muntinlupa marks 31st cityhood anniversary
Mayor Ruffy Biazon surprised music fans when he stepped into the DJ booth during “Rock the South: Muntinlupa Cityhood Band Showdown” on March 1.
The event kicked off Muntinlupa’s 31st cityhood anniversary celebration with a high-energy tribute to the city’s thriving music scene.
Held at the Water Garden of Festival Mall in Alabang, the battle of the bands showcased eight homegrown acts–D’BnB, Di Namin Alam, Kabanata, Last Sonnet, The Conyos, We Conspire, Zayote Box 69, and Zero Signal–in a dynamic clash of sound, skill, and stage presence.
Gracing the event for special performances were Hey Moonshine, Hakki, and OPM icons The Bloomfields.
“As we celebrate 31 years of Muntinlupa as a city, we also celebrate the richness of our local talent,” said Biazon.
The cityhood celebration continued on March 2 with a series of events.
A Holy Mass was held at the Muntinlupa City hall quadrangle. The city will bless and inaugurate the newly established Road Safety Park, a facility designed to promote traffic discipline and strengthen road safety education, particularly among young residents.
During the anniversary program at the Muntinlupa Sports Center, the city government will also recognize its top 10 taxpayers and companies with 100 percent Muntinlupeño employees, emphasizing the crucial role of responsible businesses in funding public services and generating employment for residents.
The celebration will culminate in Biazon’s State of the City Address (SOCA), where he is set to outline the city’s fiscal standing, key infrastructure projects, and upcoming plans and programs.
