Man stabbed to death during drinking binge

NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur – A man allegedly stabbed his drinking companion to death during a birthday party in Sitio Palikud, Barangay Sucoc here on Sunday afternoon, March 1.
Police Lt. Reynald Ramos, chief of police of Narvacan, said the victim was a 35-year-old farmer and resident of Barangay San Antonio, Narvacan.
Investigation said the 39-year-old suspect from Barangay Sucoc and the victim, with several individuals, were having a drinking session when the victim allegedly teased the suspect about marrying a girl who was his relative.
A heated argument broke out which was pacified by their drinking buddies. The suspect left and returned with a concealed butcher’s knife. The victim approached and elbowed the suspect who stabbed the victim in the neck in retaliation.
The victim was taken to a hospital here where he was declared dead.
The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation in his house. Authorities recovered the bladed weapon used in the crime. The suspect is facing a murder case.
