Reigning champion National University is keeping its fingers crossed as rookie sensation Sam Cantada awaits the result of her magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan on her right shin last weekend.
NU head coach Regine Diego told Manila Bulletin/Tempo that the Cantada’s presence in their upcoming match against University of the East on Wednesday, March, would depend on the MRI result.
“No results yet… depending on results of tests pa eh,” said Diego
Cantada, one of the top contenders for the Rookie of the Year plum this early, hurt her shin after an accidental collision with teammate IC Cepada in the third set of their match against University of the Philippines a few days back.
The 5-foot-7 spiker was taken out of the court and did not return, with the Lady Bulldogs yielding to the Maroons, 16-25, 16-25, 25-22, 31-29, 18-16, for their first defeat of the season.
