CEBU CITY – A habal-habal or modified motorcycle driver was caught with one kilo of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City.
The 26-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City, was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) and the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office past 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, in Barangay Babag.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7, said the contraband was worth P6.8 million.
Alcantara said it took a three-day case build-up before the operation against the suspect was launched.
Packs of illegal drugs were found stuffed in a food pack that he bought from a popular fast food chain.
To avoid detection, the PDEA-7 said the suspect would go to a fast food chain to order food for takeout.
The suspect would hide sachets of shabu in the packs of food that he ordered before delivering the contraband to his contacts, the PDEA-7 said.
