Mr. Nik Goh, Giti Sales Lead for Asia, Oceania, and Sri Lanka talks more about the unique value proposition of Giti Tires.
The brand’s Philippine introduction was held in Manila on February 25, 2026, bringing together dealer partners from different regions. Giti Sales Lead for Asia, Oceania, and Sri Lanka, Nik Goh, said the launch comes as the local vehicle mix broadens, with more hybrids and battery-electric models starting to shape what buyers look for in replacement tires.
History of Giti
Globally, Giti is not new to the car business. The company traces its background to PT Gajah Tunggal TBK in Indonesia, which it cites as part of its history dating back to 1961. Giti was established later in 1993, and has since grown into a tire brand sold across more than 130 markets. In its pitch to the local trade, Giti pointed to its original equipment work with carmakers, saying this requires tires to meet automaker expectations on safety, quality consistency, and durability.
PTTI’s national sales manager, Jerome Ludovico, added that the company wants the brand introduced locally as “G-I-T-I,” pronounced as individual letters. The aim, he said, is to avoid confusion with GT Radial, a separate brand that is more established in the Philippines and linked to the group’s earlier history in Indonesia.
Giti said it wants to be seen as a manufacturer that runs its own end-to-end operation, from production to research and development, with a focus on consistent quality. It also framed sustainability as part of how it plans to grow the brand, alongside continued work on new tire technologies.
Giti also leaned on its original equipment track record, naming brands it supplies such as Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Volkswagen, Ford, and Isuzu, alongside China-based groups including BYD, Geely, Jetour, GAC, and Changan. Executives also cited BMW and Audi, and pointed to the Tesla Model 3 as an example of an EV fitment they highlighted.
Executives said EVs make tire noise more noticeable in the cabin, while battery weight increases loads and instant motor torque can speed up wear under repeated acceleration. They added that EV tires still have to manage rolling resistance for efficiency without giving up grip and braking.
Giti also cited OE-driven developments it has worked on, including run-flat tires, foam-based noise-reduction solutions, and internal sealant concepts designed to help a tire retain air after a puncture once the object is removed. The company said these are examples of how automaker requirements can shape tire design.
Giti in the Philippines
For PTTI, the partnership centers on making the brand easy for Philippine dealers to carry and support. Established in 1996, PTTI has built its business around tire distribution and dealer support, growing from earlier roots in retreading. It says it now works with more than 300 dealer partners nationwide, backed by around 30,000 square meters of warehouse space and a workforce of more than 200 employees.
Mr. Robert So, CEO of Power Tractire, Inc (PTTI) welcomes guests to the Giti Tires Philippines launch
During the launch, PTTI pointed to stable stock flow, clear support, and aftersales handling aimed at backing dealers once tires are already in customer cars. Robert So, CEO of Power Tractire, Inc (PTTI) said, “Giti has committed to supporting the Philippine market with quality products and strong marketing program while Power Tractire is committed to providing efficient logistics, aftersales service, and dealer protection.” The company also presented Giti as a brand that can sit in a competitive part of the market, where buyers still care about value, but are increasingly asking for refinement, quietness, and longer wear, especially as electrified vehicles become more common.
With PTTI handling distribution and dealer support nationwide, Giti said it plans to grow its presence through partner outlets in key regions as it expands its passenger car and SUV offering in the local replacement market.
