Residents said they first noticed thick smoke coming from a house along Obrero Street at around 5:40 p.m., prompting them to alert authorities.
Fire responders arrived at the scene and initially declared a first alarm at 5:59 p.m., followed by a second alarm at 6:02 p.m. to request additional water supply and manpower.
The fire spread to nearby houses due to the close proximity of structures in the area, forcing residents to evacuate.
Motorists passing near the affected area are advised to give way to emergency vehicles and avoid the stretch of road to allow fire trucks and responders to move freely.
The incident comes amid a continued rise in fire cases, even as the country observes Fire Prevention Month.
As of this writing, the cause of the fire, the number of affected houses, and possible injuries have yet to be determined.
This is a developing story.
