PPA sets new record with P30 B in revenue collection, P5.3 B remitted to gov't in 2025

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has set another record in its financial gains after collecting P30.09 billion in revenues last year and declaring the largest dividend remittance ever recorded by the agency.
The 2025 revenue collection is 8.86 percent higher compared with 2024 and also translated to a total of ₱5,334,158,018 in dividend.
The Dividends Law, or the Republic Act No. 7656, mandates government-owned and controlled corporations to remit at least 50 percent of their annual net income to the National Government. The dividend declared by the PPA is equivalent to 52 percent of its net earnings.
PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago explained that revenue gains more funds to finance the agency’s priority projects aimed at further improving the facilities and services in all PPA-managed ports across the country.
“With its consistent upward revenue trajectory, PPA is well-positioned to fund ongoing and upcoming port infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing trade facilitation, improving logistics efficiency, and supporting tourism growth,” said Santiago.
“This is a reflection of our commitment to modernizing our ports, strategic reforms, and the collective effort of PPA employees and stakeholders,” he added.
From a long-term perspective, the PPA’s financial performance has demonstrated consistent growth.
Total revenues have risen from ₱14.32 billion in 2016 to ₱27.64 billion in 2024, with regulatory income increasing from ₱6.82 billion in 2016 to ₱15.68 billion in 2024.
Santiago attributed the revenue gains to sustained growth in vessel traffic and cargo throughput, higher storage revenues, strengthened regulatory income following tariff adjustments, and favorable gains from dollar-denominated tariffs.
In a statement, PPA said such factors reflect the continued expansion of maritime trade activities and the effective implementation of the agency’s revenue optimization and fiscal management strategies.
“This steady rise highlights the agency’s evolving role and its efforts to transform the Philippine port system into a more efficient and globally competitive sector,” the statement read.
“PPA reaffirms its commitment to delivering modern, sustainable, and resilient port infrastructure systems that contribute to economic expansion and inclusive national development,” it added.
