Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized around P350 million worth of fake footwear and equipment being used for the manufacture of the bogus product in a raid on two warehouses in Apalit, Pampanga.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II said the operation stemmed from a confirmed intelligence report of the presence of a warehouse of fake Crocs products in two warehouses in Golden Haojia Industrial Compound in Barangay Balucuc.
Armed with a search warrant issued by a local court, CIDG operatives swooped down on the first warehouse which resulted in the confiscation of several boxes of fake footwear, 30 sacks containing resin raw materials, four units of heavy machineries, and assorted paraphernalia and equipment.
The estimated market value of the seized products was 216,305,000.00.
On the same day, the same police teams led by Lt. Col. Marlon Cudal raided the second warehouse and confiscated 1,481 boxes containing fake Crocs products with an estimated value of P133,290,000.00.
Morico said they are now conducting an investigation to identify all the persons involved in the manufacture and distribution of the fake footwear.
He said charges of violation of Section 155 (Infringement) in relation to Section 170 (Penalties) of the Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines) will be filed against those involved.
Morico also urged the public to report all suspicious and illegal activities and trading in their localities.
