ILOILO CITY—A native of Capiz province shared her experience after the Iranian retaliatory strike in an American navy base in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, following the joint bombing of the United States and Israel Saturday in Iran.
“The situation is very alarming,” said Ahmyzza Contreras in a video posted in her Facebook account.
In a video plea originally meant for the Philippine Embassy and other government agencies, Contreras shared her ordeal on Saturday.
Contreras said the condominium building she was temporarily staying at was hit by missiles as Iranians targeted the headquarters of the US Navy 5th Fleet nearby.
She said a Chinese national helped her evacuate to a hotel. “I’m with the Chinese,” Contreras said.
Contreras said she is not an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and she is in Bahrain processing legal papers with her husband who works in neighboring Saudi Arabia.
She said her husband has returned to Saudi Arabia prior to the retaliatory attacks by Iran.
It is unclear if the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain has assisted Contreras.
