Thief nabbed in Manila for selling stolen camera on social media
A 23-year-old man was arrested by the Manila Police District (MPD) for robbing a 19-year-old student of his digital camera and selling it on social media in Malate, Manila, last Feb. 25.
Based on the police report, the victim met the suspect via a dating app (Grindr) and subsequently invited the latter to his condominium unit along P. Ocampo Street in Barangay 728 on Feb. 22.
The victim later found out that his Canon Power Shot V10 digital camera worth P25,000 was missing after the suspect left his condo unit.
Three days later, the victim saw the stolen camera posted on Facebook Marketplace being sold by the suspect, prompting him to report the incident to the police.
A follow-up operation was quickly launched by the police wherein one of the victim's friends posed as the camera's buyer, which led to the suspect's arrest.
During the investigation, the victim said he will no longer pursue charges against the suspect, saying that he does not have enough time to process the filing of charges before the Office of the City Prosecutor and attend court proceedings.
