A 60-year-old senior citizen tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) wanted for illegal drugs was arrested by the Makati City Police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Olympia, Makati City, last Feb. 25.
According to Southern Police District (SPD) Director Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, the suspect, identified as alias "Ante," was nabbed along Barasoain Street corner Binakod Street after a police poseur buyer was able to purchase shabu from him.
Arresting officers also recovered 67.77 grams of shabu from Ante worth P460,836.
"The arrested suspect and the confiscated evidence were brought to the DDEU-SPD office for proper documentation and processing. Alias Ante is currently facing charges for the violation of Section 5 and Section 11, under Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The seized evidence will be submitted to the Forensic Unit for laboratory examination as part of the legal proceedings," Arceo said.
He also commended the police force for Ante's successful arrest.
"The arrest of alias Ante and the seizure of nearly half a million pesos worth of shabu is a testament to our intensified efforts to track down and neutralize high-value drug personalities within our jurisdiction. We will not waver in our mission to protect our communities from the scourge of illegal drugs. I commend our team for their bravery and professional conduct during this early morning operation, ensuring that those who profit from this illegal trade are held accountable under the law," the director noted.
